(Note: This exercise in alliteration is light-hearted but also has a serious message. It was written in reference to an upcoming ministerial conference, and posted on Elders Forum.)
Please be positive! There is power in positive pondering! Please pay particular perception while I pinpoint particular principles of paramount importance. I predict platoons of perspicacious preachers and parishioners and spouses proceeding posthaste across plains and prairies by plane, Plymouth, pickup, and palomino from Portland, Pensacola, Paris and Perth – from pan-planet -- to park their posteriors in this profound powwow to pursue these pearls of profundity. Pastors will depart their pastorates, pious parsons will depart their peculiar parsonages, and preachers will pull away from their pulpits, parishioners and pews for this promising pilgrimage into the Power of Positive Perception!
It’s problematic to be positive when plagued with pestilence, palsy, pleurisy, pox, polio, pyorrhea, paralysis and pain; with people problems, puerile pet peeves, prevaricating propaganda, and people presumptuously poking their prodigious pachyderm proboscises into people’s private particulars. But persevere in pursuing positive perspectives!
Poor pessimists are perennially preoccupied with and perturbed about problems and have a penchant to pooh-pooh all positive prognoses, and to portray panic, pickiness and paranoia. They’re persistently between the pit and the pendulum as they predict pandemic plagues and purgatory and pandemonium as Pandora’s package is opened.
Prescribed are purity, pleasantness, politeness, prudence, propriety, punctuality, punctiliousness, and appreciation. Proscribed are pertinacious complaining and pugnacious polemics. No persecution, prosecution, punishing, penalizing, pummeling or pillorying people for their peccadilloes and prodigal past. Pardon and you will be pardoned.
God’s people should be the most positive people on the planet because He provides us pardon and the most positive principles possible! He permeates us with His presence and peace! He’s perfecting us for potential power!
Practice prayer and praise! Especially plead for protection from penetration by the prince of the power of the air. Let’s present our petitions that our Provider will provide peace and patience. No procrastination or pusillanimity! Let’s please our Provider with plenty of pleasant prayers!
Pour yourself into la Palabra (the Word), which is powerfully positive! Peruse Proverbs and the Pentateuch. Become permeated with prophecies and promises and profound pronouncements!
Our Supreme Potentate makes the improbable probable and the impossible possible. With peace and partnership, let us proceed with passion and compassion to preach and publish to all the planet la Palabra and the pleasant proclamation of the principality of the Prince of Peace!
