A TRIBUTE TO MOTHERS
by Don Hooser

Let's have a tribute to all the mothers,
a salute to our own and to all the others.

They labored in pain to give us birth
and worked all our lives to give us worth.

It was TLC from the time of the breast
clear to the time when we left the nest.

They made sure we were not neglected
and gave us comfort when we felt rejected.

These devoted dears washed our ears,
dried our tears and calmed our fears.

They listened and laughed at our jokes
and taught us to respect the older folks.

When we were naughty they spanked us
and when we were good they thanked us.

They cheered us when we first crawled
and when we first drawled and scrawled.

When we needed to talk, they heard us;
when we needed to cry, they assured us.

They taught us to love God's lovely flowers
and the wind and the sun and the showers.

They sang us lullabies while on their laps
and carried us to bed to take our naps.

To her children, she was constantly giving,
and of our many mistakes, always forgiving.

For us, our mothers cared very well,
so we did swell - we fared very well.

We've been blessed with our mothers' love;
now we pray they'll be blessed from above!
