DON & ELSIE--THE SHORT STORY

Elsie and I and all three of our children are members of United Church of God.  I have served in the ministry since 1966, and Elsie has been a wonderful partner all along.  We feel immensely blessed to have this calling.  I pastor the Sedro-Woolley, Washington, congregation, and we live in Bellingham, WA, north of Seattle.  Our children--Amy, Danny, and Randy and his wife Natalie--all live in the Dallas, Texas, area.  I have three brothers and Elsie has two sisters.

I grew up mostly in Texas and Elsie grew up in Michigan.  I graduated from Southern Methodist University in Dallas in 1963 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering.  I graduated from Ambassador College in 1966 with a BA in Theology and a new job--as a ministerial trainee.   I married Elsie two days later, and we were off to my first ministerial assignment in Akron, Ohio.  I was ordained into the ministry in January, 1967, and have been serving in the ministry full-time since then.

I have served the following congregations:
Akron, Cleveland, Youngstown, Ohio -- 1966-1968
Cincinnati and Portsmouth, Ohio -- 1968-1974
Grand Island and North Platte, Nebraska -- 1974-1985
Ada and Lawton, Oklahoma -- 1985-1991
Dallas South, TX -- 1991-2001 (WCG and then UCG)

    (Coleman TX -- 1996-1997;  Waco -- 1997-2001)

Austin, Waco, and Coleman TX -- 2001 - 2004

Sedro-Woolley WA -- 2004-2009

Since January 2009, I'm a full-time writer for the Church's Editorial Department.

We live in Bellingham, WA.
